Why Links Are Important
SEO is split into two main as discussed here: Relevancy and popularity. So we have discussed the former so let’s take a look at the latter. Popularity is how Google counts and values links. Links are like votes of affirmation for your website. But they vary massively, and like real votes in the real world, they can be manipulated and fraudulent. Google sees all of this, and there is no way of knowing exactly how the big G works when it comes to its ranking algorithm. What we do know is that you can’t rank strongly for anything competitive without links. The reason for this is simple, there will already be ten or more sites to put ahead of you for Google to put ahead of you on page 1. If you have god relevancy and even age, but no links then Google will almost certainly choose sites that have both good links and good onsite, regardless of age.
